Technology

Waterloo Dental houses the most cutting edge technology to provide you the most advanced, precise and modern dentistry.

Computed Tomography (CT)

Computed Tomography, or CT scans are 3D X-rays. They are an extremely powerful diagnostic and planning tool for a variety of procedures including wisdom tooth extraction, dental implants and root canal therapy. The biggest advantage of a CT scan is that it’s true-to-life; meaning the images are an exact reflection of the area being scanned. As there is no distortion from the reality, accurate measurements and precise planning is possible using 3D CT X-ray technology. Amazing right? We agree, and think having this in-house ensures we are able to deliver the highest quality standard of care!

Dental CAD/CAM

Dental CAD/CAM is modern, space-age dentistry at it’s jaw-dropping best. It is Computer Aided Design (CAD) of dental restorations such as crowns, bridges, veneers and so much more! An ultra precise camera captures and creates a model of your teeth that we can then design all kinds of prostheses on! The design is then sent to our Computer Aided Mill (CAM), which is like a 3D printer, to actually fabricate the prosthesis and bring virtual reality to life!

Dental Laser

The benefits of dental lasers are numerous and immense. They can be used in shaping and contouring gums during cosmetic procedures, to eliminate bacteria during the treatment of a badly infected tooth, or to assist the treatment of unresponsive infections of the gums. Lasers can also assist in relieving inflammatory muscular aches and pains. It is another tool we utilize in delivering you the highest quality care here at Waterloo Dental.

Diagnocam

The Diagnocam is an early cavity detection device that does not use X-rays! It’s amazing, state-of-the-art technology that allows us to accurately visualize a cavity within a tooth, and detect it as early as possible, even if it is not visible to the naked eye, or on X-ray. It is especially useful for children, pregnant women, and anyone who has had significant exposure to X-rays recently and wants to avoid additional exposure.

Integrated Apex Locator

Ok, this one is for the tech-gurus! Our dental chairs are also loaded with some amazing technology and this is just one example! Whilst treating deeper infections of your tooth in a procedure known as Root Canal Therapy, our chair tells us precisely how far into the tooth we’ve cleaned! It does this via some pretty amazing electrical circuits. What it means to you is that the safety and success of your treatment is greatly enhanced! We are genuine when we promise the highest standard of care and uncompromising quality at Waterloo Dental!

Digital X-rays

Digital X-rays use a fraction of the radiation as traditional film X-rays, are clearer and more accurate as well. So of-course we use digital X-rays in all our rooms here at Waterloo Dental. But we don’t stop there – our units are laser guided so no more repeat exposures due to positioning difficulties!
